Our story
Over the years, a small bed and breakfast in Tyrol has grown into something unique: Familux Resorts – the world’s first premium hotel group to specialise entirely in holidays with children. What has remained the same? Our family roots. Today, the company is run by the second generation of the Mayer family, brothers Julian and Florian.
The idea behind it
Family holidays reimaginedWhen Ernst and Andrea Mayer took over the Pension Alpenrose in Lermoos in 1988, they had a clear vision of what a family holiday should be: relaxing for parents, full of freedom for children and uncompromisingly high-quality in every detail. With great passion, they gradually developed a resort concept from a small guesthouse that continues to set standards to this day. The result was not just a hotel, but an entire philosophy: Bring your kids, find yourself.
Raised on hospitality
The next generation takes overJulian and Florian Mayer have known the world of the hotel industry since childhood. Between the reception, restaurant and hotel corridors, they experienced first-hand how a vision grew into something great. After completing their training, studies and professional stints abroad, they made a conscious decision to return to the family business. Since 2021, they have been running the Familux Resorts together – now as fathers themselves, with a clear understanding of what parents and children really need on holiday.
We have the best job in the world: we build and run the best possible hotels – for our own children and for families like ours. Bringing together the colourful world of children with the wishes of parents, all under one protective roof, is our core purpose. That's why, across our spacious resorts, we rely on high-quality furniture, thoughtful details and child-friendly concepts.

At home in Austria, Germany and at seaThe Familux Group now comprises four multi-award-winning resorts in Austria and Germany: the Alpenrose in Lermoos, the Dachsteinkönig in the Salzkammergut, the Oberjoch in the Allgäu, and The Grand Green, which opened in 2022. The offering is complemented by the exclusive Familux Yachts on the Croatian Adriatic coast. More than 670 employees create special holiday moments for families from all over the world every day.

The child care service is provided for those from 0 to 16 years in different age groups, 7 days a week from 08:30 to 21:00 by 25 professional child minders.
Play area
Fun is guaranteed over an area covering 2,000 m² inside and 5,000 m² outside, ensuring that boredom will always be kept at bay while on holiday. Whether on our giant bouncy castle and trampolines, our adventure ropes course next to the creative outdoor play area ‘Murmel’s Water World’ or in our soft play area.
Swimming complex
Our large indoor pool and infinity outdoor pools provide both fun and exercise while our warm giant whirlpool is best suited to simply float around. Parents can relax in the sauna area or switch off from everyday life in the spa with a massage and cosmetics. Our Kinderhotel, with its swimming pools, has everything you could ever need, regardless of your age.

Our varied weekly program for parents and children offers a wide range of activities that promote fun and education in equal measure.
